The Flegg Sharks have kicked off their 2025 campaign with a solid win over the Newcastle Knights at Henson Park.

The match, played under scorching hot conditions, saw the Sharks notch their first victory of the season with a 38-22 triumph, scoring seven tries in the process.

Despite not being at their best, the Sharks managed to get the job done against the Knights, bouncing back strongly from their previous loss to the Panthers in round one.

In the early stages of the game, the Knights committed numerous errors, conceding penalties and set restarts that allowed the Cronulla side to apply pressure.

Debutant centre Joe Nadenic demonstrated his strength by scoring a try out wide just eight minutes into the contest.

As the game progressed, Ritchie Whalebone added to the Sharks' tally with a try off a slick backline move, extending their lead to 8-0.

With a dominant display in possession and field position, the Sharks continued to push forward, with Nadenic scoring his second try by outmuscling his opposite number.

The victory for the Flegg Sharks marked a positive start to the season, showcasing their potential to compete at a high level in the competition.

The team's performance was a testament to their resilience and determination, setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting campaign ahead.
