Manly Sea Eagles coach Anthony Seibold has dismissed speculation about his future and the impact of a crucial upcoming match against the Wests Tigers, labeling the idea that one game could define his tenure as "nonsense." Despite recent struggles, including three losses in four games and a significant defeat to the Gold Coast, Seibold remains defiant.
He has also refuted rumors regarding the removal of captain Daly Cherry-Evans, who announced he would leave the Sea Eagles at the end of the season.
A potential victory against the Tigers could position Manly near the top eight, yet Seibold emphasized that the notion of this round 17 game determining his fate is misguided.
He reflected on his journey since joining the club in late 2022, noting, "Let's look at the facts.
I came here at the end of 2022, the club had lost seven or eight games in a row." He pointed out that the team has seen improvement, winning more matches this year compared to past seasons, while also acknowledging the inconsistency in performance.
"We won more games in 2023 than we did in 22, we won more games in 2024 than we did in 2023 and this year we've played some exceptional footy, but we also played poorly at times," he said, stressing that the disparity between their best and worst performances is a concern for him.
