Seibold unveils plans for life after DCE as Daly Cherry-Evans prepares for his last game at Brookvale on Friday night. Fans of the Sea Eagles will also witness the debut of young talent Joey Walsh coming off the bench.
With an unlikely turnaround, Manly's season looks to conclude without a finals appearance, marking the end of a remarkable career for one of the club's stalwart players.
Since clinching a championship in his first season back in 2011, Cherry-Evans has accomplished nearly everything in rugby league, boasting a Clive Churchill Medal, over 350 games played, and a significant presence on the representative level.
However, his farewell will not be a fairytale ending on the northern beaches. Earlier this year, he revealed his decision to depart at the end of the season due to a fallout with club management regarding contract discussions.
There are strong indications that he may join the Roosters in 2026. Nevertheless, no matter what the future holds for the halfback, he will have the opportunity to play one last time in front of his home crowd. The reality of Cherry-Evans' exit is now sinking in for both him and his coach.
"We've had a really tight relationship over the last few years and I've leant on him as you do as a head coach with your captain," Anthony Seibold commented. "I'll miss him from a personal point of view, but we do have some really good emerging leaders coming through, and 'Chez' has been able to hand the baton over to that group of guys over the years."
