The Sea Eagles' season in the Tarsha Gale Cup has come to an end, with a bittersweet finish for the Manly Warringah team.

In a heart-wrenching 18-16 loss to the Newcastle Knights at Leichhardt Oval, the Sea Eagles fought valiantly in their first-ever finals appearance in just their second season in the U19 women's competition.

Despite a gallant effort, the Sea Eagles were dealt a tough blow as they lost three key players to injury in the second half, putting them at a disadvantage against the Knights.

The Knights capitalized on this, scoring crucial tries in the 42nd and 52nd minute to snatch the lead away from Manly for the first time in the match.

In a true test of character, the Sea Eagles fought back with a last-ditch attack, but the Knights held strong to secure the victory.

The game saw both teams trading chances early on, with the Sea Eagles drawing first blood in the eighth minute courtesy of winger Teuwira Rameka-Keremete, who finished off a slick team play to put Manly ahead 4-0.

The momentum seemed to shift in Manly's favor when winger Danielle Dunlop intercepted a stray Knights pass on her own 10-meter line in the 15th minute.

With an exhilarating 70-meter run downfield, it looked like Dunlop was on track for a certain try.

However, the Knights' defense showed its mettle as they managed to chase her down and force a turnover, leaving Manly empty-handed.

It was a disappointing end to what had been a remarkable season for the Sea Eagles, but they can hold their heads high knowing they gave their all on the field.

As they say in the world of Rugby League, sometimes the breaks just don't go your way, but it's all part of the game.

The Sea Eagles will regroup, learn from this experience, and come back even stronger in the next season, ready to take on whatever challenges come their way.
