Sea Eagles Sign Young Playmaker from Roosters

The Manly Sea Eagles have made a significant addition to their roster by acquiring one of the top young playmakers under 18 from the Sydney Roosters. This move marks a proactive step in their recruitment strategy aimed at bolstering their youth talent pool.

Following the departures of promising juniors like Campbell Munn and Callum Dowell, the Sea Eagles have executed a successful recruitment tactic to replenish their ranks. The new signing, Lachlan Metcalfe, will join the same club as his older brother, Blake, who made five appearances for the Sea Eagles in the NSW Cup this season, including three as the starting fullback.

Metcalfe is still eligible to participate in the Under-19s SG Ball Cup for the next two years. He has been recognized as an elite playmaker and recently concluded a noteworthy campaign in the Under-17s Harold Matthews Cup, guiding the Roosters to the opening week of the finals.

Currently a student at Hills Sports High School, Metcalfe previously spent time at the Parramatta Eels before joining the Roosters for the last two years. Evaluating his performance, coaches highlight his capabilities, stating, "He's just calm, collected, got a great forward-kicking game, great running game and he's tipped to be a player for the future."

With high expectations surrounding his future potential, it has been noted, "You can expect to see some big things from him. He's got a great boot, kicks a couple 40/20 most games and he's got a real nice running game and passing game."
