The Manly Sea Eagles have announced that Tom Trbojevic, a prominent fullback and centre, will assume the role of captain at the beginning of the 2026 NRL season.
This marks a significant change for the Sea Eagles as they prepare for their first new captain in many years, following the departure of Daly Cherry-Evans. The former Queensland State of Origin halfback is set to join the Sydney Roosters for 2026, concluding his illustrious career.
Trbojevic, a product of the local junior system who has spent his entire NRL career with the Sea Eagles, recently signed a contract extension with the club. Coach Anthony Seibold praised his leadership abilities, stating that Trbojevic is already recognized as a leader within the team.
"Tom leads through his actions on and off the field," Seibold said in a club statement.
"On the field he is an elite player who has a big influence on team performance.
"Off the field, not only is he highly respected by his teammates but he is a highly regarded member of the Northern Beaches community.
"I know he'll do a great job as captain."
