Sea Eagles Forward Josh Aloiai's Medical Retirement Confirmed

After enduring months of uncertainty regarding his future, Josh Aloiai of the Manly Sea Eagles has officially been confirmed for medical retirement. The front-rower has been plagued by a persistent shoulder injury, restricting him to just five appearances during the 2025 NRL season, where he struggled to showcase his usual performance levels.

His retirement is part of a larger roster change, with Aloiai being one of nine players leaving the Sea Eagles. The NRL has approved his medical retirement, allowing him to forgo the remaining two years of his contract.

This decision not only opens up a position on the club's Top 30 roster but also provides additional room in their salary cap, especially after Aloiai agreed to a $1 million contract extension in mid-2024.

"We wish Josh and his family the very best with their future," said Sea Eagles CEO Tony Mestrov.

"He gave his all in his five years here at Manly, displaying resilience and professionalism.

"Josh would often play through the pain to help his team, and he was a highly respected member of the playing group."
