The Warringah Sea Eagles suffered a 24-18 defeat to the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks in Round 6 at Optus Stadium in Perth.
The Sharks took the lead with two quick tries before halftime, despite Manly appearing more expansive in the first half.
Braydon Trindall set up two tries for Sam Stonestreet, with the Sharks capitalizing on their limited opportunities.
The Sharks seemed to extend their lead early in the second half, but a try by Will Kennedy was disallowed due to obstruction.
Manly also had a try denied shortly after when Clayton Faulalo's effort was ruled out by the bunker.
"The Sharks ran in two tries in quick succession to lead 8-0 at half time."
"Manly looked the more expansive of the two sides for much of the first half, but the Sharks made the most of their limited opportunities."
"The first was from a cutout ball on the short side, and the second, scored on the same patch of grass, was from a neat in-goal grubber."
"It looked like the Sharks had extended their lead four minutes into the second half when fullback Will Kennedy caught a bomb inside his own 20 metre line, running 80 metres to cross, only for the try to be disallowed due to obstruction."
"Two minutes later it was Manly's turn to have a try denied by the bunker when winger Clayton Faulalo was on the end of a sweeping play to the right, planting the ball down in-touch-in-goal."
Overall, despite Manly's efforts to be the more attacking team, the Sharks were able to capitalize on their opportunities and secure the win.
The disallowed tries on both sides added drama to the match, but ultimately the Sharks emerged victorious.
