The Manly Sea Eagles are reportedly set to enhance their offer to retain goal-kicking outside back Reuben Garrick beyond the end of the 2026 NRL season.
With Garrick's contract expiring at the end of 2026, he has been free to negotiate with other clubs since November 1. His versatility as a player, able to fill positions at centre, wing, or fullback, makes him a valuable asset, prompting Manly's eagerness to keep him on the roster. However, their initial proposal was said to have been rejected.
This initial offer, estimated at around $550,000 annually, is believed to fall short of Garrick's market value, as he is now drawing interest from both the Sydney Roosters and St George Illawarra Dragons, according to a report from News Corp.
Manly plans to revisit negotiations to try and secure Garrick's services, but the Roosters appear to be in a strong position to acquire him. The club has a financial advantage thanks to several high-profile departures in recent seasons and is motivated to find a replacement for Mark Nawaqanitawase, who is heading back to rugby union with an eye on competing in the Rugby World Cup in 2027.
Additionally, the Roosters have also brought in veteran halfback Daly Cherry-Evans, who shares a close friendship with Garrick. Cherry-Evans is expected to join the Roosters' coaching staff in 2027, further enhancing the club's appeal for Garrick.
