The Manly Sea Eagles have announced that former captain Jason King will become the new CEO following the resignation of Tony Mestrov earlier this week.
Mestrov is set to officially leave the Sea Eagles on December 19, at which point King will assume his new position.
King, who hung up his boots in 2014, boasts an impressive playing record with 239 appearances-217 for the Sea Eagles and 22 for the Northern Eagles during a challenging merger period with North Sydney Bears.
Since retiring, King has thrived in rugby league administration roles, currently serving as the Executive General Manager of Legal, Integrity & Risk at the NRL, while also practising as a solicitor.
Manly chairman Scott Penn expressed confidence in King, highlighting his suitability for the role as the club marks its 80th anniversary. "Jason is an accomplished NRL administrator bringing over 10 years' experience to the Sea Eagles," Penn stated. "As a past Captain, playing over 200 games for the Club, makes Jason the perfect candidate to bring the Sea Eagles' new strategic plan to life."
