Scott Morrison has decided to pass on the "No.1" title as ticketholder with his beloved Cronulla Sharks as he transitions into life after politics, as reported by news.com.au.
The former prime minister, who was bestowed with the honorary title while serving as treasurer back in 2016, has informed Sharks CEO Dino Mezzatesta that he will be relinquishing the title.
In a statement, Morrison expressed his gratitude for being given the honor over the past eight seasons.
"I have thoroughly enjoyed my association with the club in this role and am deeply grateful for the club giving me that honor.
I will continue to be a passionate supporter of the Sharks in the years to come.
We are proud of the history and optimistic about the future," Morrison stated.
While acknowledging the support he provided to the club during his time as local MP, treasurer, and prime minister, Morrison made the decision to step down after retiring from politics earlier this year.
He is set to take on a new role as vice-chair of security firm American Global Strategies.
Morrison's decision to relinquish the title symbolizes his shift away from politics and into a new chapter in his life, but his dedication to supporting the Sharks remains as strong as ever.
