Amid ongoing financial difficulties, Salford Red Devils have reaffirmed that the club "will not close." This statement came late Monday, as reports indicate that the Super League team has faced significant monetary challenges in recent months.

A Rugby Football League (RFL) statement described Salford's financial issues as "damaging and draining for the sport," emphasizing that the "only alternative" to an earlier ownership takeover was the "very probable and immediate demise of the club."

This situation took a serious turn in February when a consortium led by businessman Dario Berta acquired Salford after it was placed under a £1.2m sustainability salary cap by the RFL.

Currently, the club is dependent on external funding from WeDo Finance, as their financial accounts are frozen. They also recently faced a winding-up petition, with its hearing postponed until September 3.

Addressing the uncertainty heightened by an 80-6 defeat to Hull FC, in which the team was forced to field extra loan players due to 13 player departures this season, Salford issued a clear message. Their statement read, "We understand the frustration many fans feel. But we want to be clear: Salford Red Devils will not close."
