Ryan Brierley has returned to Salford as the new chief executive of the phoenix club.
According to reports from skysports.com, Brierley, a former club captain, was transferred to Oldham as the Salford Red Devils struggled to raise funds during their challenging 2025 season.
The 33-year-old, who has been a lifelong supporter of Salford, has decided to end his playing career at Oldham to take on the leadership role focused on rebuilding professional rugby league in the city.
This development follows the Phoenix Bid consortium's success in acquiring the Rugby Football League (RFL) license.
"Salford is in my heart, and I believe saving its rugby league heritage is something that transcends rivalry," Brierley expressed.
He added, "I hope Oldham's incredible supporters understand that this is about protecting something we all care deeply about, and what a great club they belong to."
