A concussion lawsuit involving former rugby players has escalated to include over 1,100 plaintiffs, with more than 520 additional players recently joining the case.
According to the law firm Rylands Garth, this total comprises 784 players from rugby union and 319 from rugby league.
Notable participants include members of England's 2003 Rugby World Cup-winning team, such as Steve Thompson, Mark Regan, and Phil Vickery, as well as former Wales players Gavin Henson, Colin Charvis, and Ryan Jones, and scrum-half Harry Ellis, among others.
The lawsuit targets World Rugby, the Rugby Football Union, and the Welsh Rugby Union, with former players alleging negligence for failing to adequately protect them from serious brain injuries.
Earlier in November, former British and Irish Lions players Lee Byrne and Phil Greening also joined the case.
The plaintiffs contend that the governing bodies did not take reasonable measures to ensure their safety during play.
