As the 2025 NRL season draws to a close, numerous players are announcing their commitments to their countries for the Pacific Championships.
Given the diverse heritage of many young athletes, determining their national representation is often complex.
Sydney Roosters star Naufahu Whyte has cleared any uncertainty regarding his national loyalty, officially declaring his commitment to the New Zealand Kiwis.
The Auckland-native expressed that despite his eligibility for other nations, he always intended to choose New Zealand.
"I'm half Tongan and half Samoan and hopefully one day I get to represent the red and blue jerseys but New Zealand's my home," Whyte told NRL.com. "That's where I was born, it's where I grew up, and my childhood, my family and friends all came from there."
