A week ahead of the November 1 transfer window, the Sydney Roosters have reportedly secured one of their most promising forwards.
Blake Steep, part of the club's emerging forward generation alongside Naufahu Whyte and Salesi Foketi, has been a consistent player for the team this season, participating in 22 matches primarily off the interchange bench.
Steep has progressed through the club's pathway system and previously captained the SG Ball Cup team, leading them to a narrow miss of the 2023 Grand Final. He played alongside notable teammates including Tyreece Tait, Jake Elliott, Toby Rodwell, and De La Salle Va'a.
Despite exploring rugby union during his time at Scots College, Steep was always inclined towards rugby league, influenced by his father's and brother's involvement in the sport.
"He's an outstanding player and during the training and in games, he's been pushing me to be the best that I can be and I'm learning a lot from him," said Steep, reflecting on his experiences.
He added, "It's pretty cool being able to go from a young fella watching him and now taking advice off him in the game."
Looking toward the future, Steep is eager to refine his skills by learning from international representatives such as Naufahu Whyte, Siua Wong, and reigning Wally Lewis Medallist Angus Crichton.
