The Sydney Roosters are preparing to negotiate a contract extension with breakout star Mark Nawaqanitawase, aiming to finalize terms before November 1.
Currently contracted until the end of 2026, following an initial two-year deal that began in 2024, Nawaqanitawase's transition from rugby union has been highly successful.
He previously represented Australia in sevens at the Paris Olympic Games.
Nawaqanitawase has made a strong impact, playing both in the centres and on the wing for the Roosters, and his impressive performances have placed him among potential candidates for the State of Origin.
However, with the Rugby World Cup set to be hosted in Australia in 2027, the Roosters face challenges ahead, as Rugby Australia is reportedly interested in acquiring the talented winger.
Additionally, multiple NRL clubs, including the Perth Bears, are looking to attract Nawaqanitawase.
The Perth Bears will be entering negotiations on November 1 with a full squad to address and a complete salary cap available under an as-yet-unknown coach.
