NRL in shock as Roosters 'bail out' of David Fifita deal post-10pm phone call

The titanic saga between Titans dynamo David Fifita and the Roosters has hit a snag after a late-night phone call.

Reports by news.com.au reveal that David Fifita's brief fling with the Roosters has crumbled after just one week.

The Roosters issued a statement on Wednesday, announcing the withdrawal of their offer to the 24-year-old following a conversation that took place past bedtime on Tuesday.

The Roosters' bold move came after Fifita hinted to club brass that he may be getting cold feet about leaving the Titans.

After weeks of negotiations, the Queenslander initially gave the Roosters the green light last week, signaling his readiness to embrace a $3.3 million, four-year alliance with the Sydney outfit.

But now, in a stunning turn of events, Fifita has done a complete 180 and informed the Titans of his desire to stick with the team.
