The Sydney Roosters have suffered a significant setback just before their season opener against the New Zealand Warriors.
Star centre Robert Toia has been sidelined due to a foot injury, which previously kept him out of the trials in February.
While the injury does not appear to be critical, the Roosters' medical team has chosen to proceed with caution.
In his absence, Junior Pauga will step in as the right centre for the Roosters.

Unfortunately, Toia's injury isn't the only concern for the Roosters as they head into Round 1; new recruit and NSW Blues hooker Reece Robson is also nursing a hand injury and is anticipated to return by Round 7.
