The Sydney Roosters have officially announced that Hugo Savala and Reece Foley will miss this weekend's match against the Cronulla Sharks.

Both players suffered concussions during last Friday's significant 48-10 defeat against the Dolphins in Brisbane.

Due to the NRL's strict 11-day standdown policy for concussions and unsuccessful head injury assessments, they will be sidelined.

However, they are expected to be available for the Round 17 matchup with the Brisbane Broncos if they successfully complete the concussion protocols, following a bye for the Roosters in Round 18.

Savala generally plays in the centres but was shifted to a halfback position during the clash against the Dolphins, as regular half Sam Walker was away for State of Origin duties.

Walker is anticipated to return after Origin 2, which will likely see him slot back into the halfback spot, allowing Daly Cherry-Evans to revert to five-eighth, a position he has maintained throughout the season, and his first away from the Manly Sea Eagles.

Foley, who filled in at centre, is expected to be replaced directly by Robert Toia, who should also back up from Game 1. The Roosters will also welcome Mark Nawaqanitawase back to strengthen their backline for the crucial match against the Sharks.

Currently, both teams sit just outside the top four, making this upcoming game at Moore Park particularly significant as the finals approach.

Team announcements will be revealed at 4 pm (AEST) on Tuesday.
