The Sydney Roosters have made a significant addition to their outside-back depth for the 2026 season by signing another prominent player from the Manly Sea Eagles.

On Monday, the club announced that experienced NRL player Tommy Talau will join the Roosters effective immediately for the upcoming season.

Talau is anticipated to provide essential cover and intensify competition within a Roosters backline that will be undergoing notable changes over the next few years.

Joel Carbone, the Roosters' Head of Recruitment, indicated that Talau was identified as a perfect fit for the club's future roster development due to his reliability and versatility at the NRL level.

"Tommy's signature adds valuable depth and experience to the backline," Carbone said.

"He's a strong competitor who has shown he can perform consistently at NRL level, and we believe he'll complement the talent we already have within the squad."

At 25 years old, Talau arrives at Bondi with 83 NRL appearances under his belt after his debut in 2019. He can play both centre and wing positions, a versatility that is increasingly sought after by clubs managing injuries, Origin periods, and evolving squad dynamics.
