Brisbane Broncos suffer historic downfall as Melbourne Storm deliver final blow to NRL season
In a scene that can only be described as 'embarrassing', the Brisbane Broncos faced their biggest fall from grace in club history as the Melbourne Storm dominated them in a 50-12 thrashing.
Despite the presence of Reece Walsh on the sidelines, the Broncos were unable to salvage their disastrous NRL season.
Walsh, who had been granted permission to sit out last weekend's game against the Dolphins due to injury, was seen in the coach's box during Thursday night's match.
Cricket legend Ian Healy sparked controversy earlier in the week when he suggested that there may have been a lack of communication regarding Walsh's absence from the previous game.
However, the Broncos quickly shut down any doubts, stating that both Walsh and coach Kevin Walters had agreed it was in the best interest for the young fullback to focus on his recovery and be with his family.
Despite the drama surrounding Walsh's absence last weekend, Healy clarified his comments and acknowledged that there may have been some discord within the Broncos camp.
With their finals hopes already dashed, the Broncos were left to face the Melbourne Storm's relentless onslaught in what could only be described as a dark ending to a tumultuous season.
