Flegg Sharks Defeated by 12-Man Roosters
In a surprising turn of events, the Flegg Sharks fell to the Roosters 20-18 in their round 20 Jersey Flegg match held at Sharks Stadium, even though the Roosters played with just 12 men after a player was sent off in the 14th minute.
The Sharks got off to a strong start, capitalizing on an early Roosters mistake.
Centre Prestyn Laine-Sietu was the first to score, charging over in the corner, which Riley Pollard converted, putting the Sharks ahead 6-0 four minutes into the game.
However, the match took a dramatic turn when Roosters five-eighth Lachlan Dooner received a red card for a dangerous lifting tackle on Sharks lock Sam McCulloch, leaving his team with only 12 players for the remainder of the match.
Following the send-off, Pollard added a penalty goal, increasing the Sharks' lead to eight points.
The Sharks then extended their advantage further when winger John-Paul Donevski scored in the north-eastern corner of the stadium.
Despite being a man down, the Roosters fought back, demonstrating resilience and determination throughout the match, ultimately leading to a disappointing loss for the young Sharks team.
