The rivalry between the Canterbury Bulldogs and Parramatta Eels dates back to the 1980s, and their latest developments may escalate tensions further.
On NRL 360, the topic of Zac Lomax's future was addressed, sparking ideas around a potential exchange deal between the Eels and Bulldogs, swapping Lomax for their key player, Matt Burton.
This trade could bring Lomax back to the NRL after his failed transition to the Melbourne Storm, while Burton, whose own future remains uncertain, would head in the opposite direction.
"Parramatta haven't said that they don't want him to come back to the game. They just want a player in return. They don't want money," co-host Braith Anasta remarked to kick off the conversation.
"Melbourne did not have a sufficient player to replace Zac Lomax."
