Rinakama's Rise: Bulldogs Winger Pursuing Fiji Debut After Impressive NRL Start
Just four matches into his NRL career, Canterbury Bulldogs winger Jethro Rinakama expresses disbelief at his journey, playing in front of tens of thousands every week as he fulfills his dreams.
In a little over a year, Rinakama transitioned from competing in the Under-19s SG Ball Cup to scoring in the Under-21s Jersey Flegg Cup Grand Final, representing the Under-19s NSW Blues, and finally making his NRL debut with the Bulldogs.
"I really didn't see myself getting in here this early, so I'm just grateful for the coaching staff and for everyone," Rinakama shared with Zero Tackle.
"First-grade is pretty surreal, especially coming through the pathways (but) it's pretty mad. When I'm running out, I still pinch myself a bit."
At just 19, his professional journey is just beginning. Rinakama started playing rugby league less than five years ago, having primarily engaged in rugby union and soccer during his youth.
Interestingly, he had initially envisioned a future in the 15-man game rather than league.
