Ricky Leutele, a former rugby league star, has officially announced his retirement, marking the end of his 14-year professional career through a heartfelt social media message.
Leutele departed the Super League at the conclusion of the 2024 season after being released by Leigh Leopards. A year later, he has confirmed that he has hung up his boots for good.
This decision concludes a notable career that spanned both the NRL and Super League, during which the centre made 249 first-grade appearances.
At 35, Leutele began his journey with the Cronulla Sharks, spending nine seasons and playing 128 matches for the team.
During his time with the Sharks, he scored 30 tries, notably contributing six during the club's groundbreaking 2016 premiership-winning season and participating in their Grand Final victory.
In 2019, Leutele transitioned to the UK, signing with the Toronto Wolfpack, where he played a key role in helping the club achieve promotion to the Super League through 35 matches.
He later returned to the NRL, joining the Melbourne Storm for a single game following the Wolfpack's exit from the competition.
