Danny McGuire has opened up about his departure from the Leeds Rhinos in 2017, revealing that it "wounded" him to leave the club where he had spent much of his life.
McGuire, who played 426 games and scored 267 tries over 18 seasons at Leeds, had an illustrious career.
He won eight Grand Final trophies, three League Leaders' Shields, two Challenge Cups, and three World Club Challenges, along with numerous individual accolades, including the 2017 Harry Sunderland Trophy for his standout performance in his final match.
During the Grand Final, McGuire delivered an extraordinary performance, scoring two tries and kicking a drop goal, which showcased his talent just before his move to Hull KR.
Reflecting on his time with the Rhinos on The Bench podcast, he confessed that he did not foresee his departure.
He noted that his exceptional play in the Grand Final was influenced by the emotions surrounding his exit, which came at the request of head coach Brian McDermott.
