Adam Reynolds will close out a brilliant career at season's end after executing his task with the Broncos to perfection.
He is not finished playing yet and will see out the remaining fixtures.
The 36-year-old captain, who guided Brisbane to last year's premiership, revealed at the club's season launch on Monday that this season will be his 15th and final year in the NRL.
He leaves aware that Parramatta playmaker Jonah Pezet will arrive next year to inherit the halfback role alongside the electric No.6 Ezra Mam.
"I've been thinking about it since the grand final," Reynolds said.
"Obviously, when you get to my age it's coming to an end."
"It felt like it was the right time to just get it over and done with before the season starts."
Many regard Reynolds' recruitment as the most impactful signing the Broncos have made since the arrival of legendary prop Glenn Lazarus from Canberra in 1992.
The club had been a mess in their wooden-spoon season of 2020 and showed little improvement in 2021.
Reynolds' arrival in 2022 immediately transformed the outfit into a competitive, organised football team.
He will depart having delivered a premiership and steady leadership that reshaped the club's fortunes.
