Reuben Porter Seeks NRL Opportunity After Tigers Exit

Reuben Porter, a versatile forward recently released by the Wests Tigers following the 2025 season, is poised to embark on the next chapter of his career in pursuit of an NRL opportunity.

Initially signing a train-and-trial contract with the Tigers in 2024, Porter made a total of eight appearances that season. However, his playing time dwindled in 2025 as the club signed several new players, leading to his exclusion from the matchday lineup.

Despite not participating in any games in 2025, he maintained a presence in the club's NSW Cup side, where he showcased his versatility by playing in various positions, including front-row, lock, and back-row.

Now uncontracted and searching for a new team, the 28-year-old is enthusiastic about the next phase of his playing career. He expressed a strong desire to receive an opportunity from an NRL club, aiming to boost his match appearances in the league.

Recently, Porter enjoyed what he described as the "best four weeks of his life" while representing the Cook Islands, leading the team to qualify for the 2026 Rugby League World Cup. With nearly a decade's experience in reserve-grade rugby, he is eager to continue his professional journey.

"I'm looking forward to having a bit of a rest and then will sort my future out after that. I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to be in the NRL again," he shared.

"That's obviously where I want to be and where I want to play and if the opportunity comes up, I'll definitely take it."
