NRL fans are expressing frustration over perceived inconsistencies in player penalties after Wests Tigers star Jarome Luai avoided a charge for colliding with a referee, while Eels five-eighth Dylan Brown faces a week on the sidelines for a comparable incident.

In a recent game, the Eels were defeated 30-12 by the Bulldogs, with Lachlan Galvin scoring a notable try for his new team.

The Bulldogs now lead the ladder, while Parramatta languishes in 16th place.

Coach Jason Ryles now faces an additional issue, as Brown has been suspended for a week following an accidental collision with referee Gerard Sutton.

During the match, Brown chased a high kick and accidentally ran into the referee, prompting a one-game suspension from the NRL match committee.

If he decides to contest the suspension and prevails, he could be available to play after the bye round; however, if he loses, he risks missing two matches.

The situation has drawn attention as Luai appeared to escape a similar charge during the Tigers' recent game against the Panthers.

Just a minute into the match, Luai found himself in a comparable circumstance when Nathan Cleary sent a high kick.

Despite the similarities in their incidents, Luai's lack of a penalty has drawn scrutiny from fans.
