Parramatta Eels interim coach Trent Barrett and captain Clinton Gutherson have come out swinging after what they believe was a costly decision by the referees in their game against the Penrith Panthers.
The controversial incident occurred late in the game, with Liam Martin appearing to impede Deajarn Asi, leading to a breakaway try from Izack Tago.
Despite replays suggesting a clear obstruction, the bunker controversially ruled in favor of the Panthers.
Barrett, known for his fiery passion on the sidelines, did not hold back in his criticism of the decision, claiming it ultimately cost his team the game.
Gutherson, a seasoned veteran of the game, echoed Barrett's sentiments, expressing his frustration at the outcome.
"The boys fought hard out there, but it's tough to take when a decision like that goes against you," Gutherson said in a post-match interview.
The Eels will be looking to regroup and bounce back from this setback, drawing on their resilience and determination to push forward in the competition.
As they say in the world of Rugby League, it's not about how hard you hit, but how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.
The Eels will be looking to channel that fighting spirit in their next match as they strive for victory.
