'Bulldogs hooker Reed Mahoney is standing his ground, refusing to back down from protecting his teammates in on-field scuffles, despite being targeted for the second week in a row.

The tough nuggety nine believes some forwards suffer from what he calls 'big man syndrome' when they come up against him.

In a fiery finish to Saturday's game, Mahoney found himself at the center of a scuffle once again after being on the receiving end of an Alex Seyfarth headbutt.

This incident led to Seyfarth becoming the second Wests Tigers player to be sin-binned in a matter of seconds.

Reflecting on the altercation, Mahoney described the moment as unexpected, stating, "I didn't even see it coming.

I was just running in there.

The Tigers were running in and I was running in." This was not the first time Mahoney had found himself in such a situation, as just two weeks prior, he had a run-in with Knights prop Jack Hetherington in the Accor Stadium tunnel.

Despite sporting a shiner under his left eye from a training collision with Viliame Kikau, Mahoney remains unfazed and determined to continue defending his teammates on the field.

With his commitment to his team shining through, Mahoney's resilience and loyalty are sure to earn him respect from fans and critics alike.'
