Ready to weather the storm for 23rd year

Key inclusion to keep 22-year streak alive

The Melbourne Storm, aiming to extend their 22-year winning streak in round 1 matches, have made a surprise inclusion of star fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen despite his knee and ankle issues.

Storm captain Harry Grant believes Papenhuyzen is ready for the game against Parramatta on Sunday.

The club pushed for a home opener this weekend, as the AFL's first round was moved to Sydney and Brisbane due to Cyclone Alfred.

Papenhuyzen, speaking on his podcast, addressed concerns about his fitness raised by coach Craig Bellamy, clarifying that it was just his knee causing issues.

Despite a tear in his meniscus and some residual pain from his knee surgery, Papenhuyzen is determined to take the field.

This unexpected decision to include Papenhuyzen could prove crucial for the Storm as they aim to continue their winning streak.
