Reagan Campbell-Gillard is seeking advice from some of rugby league's most respected figures as he embarks on a significant off-field challenge-leading the reformed London Broncos as captain.
The former Kangaroo and State of Origin prop disclosed that he reached out to Isaah Yeo shortly after being appointed skipper, with intentions to gain further insights from Clint Gutherson and Mitchell Moses.
Campbell-Gillard's captaincy is a pivotal step in London's ambitious rebuilding process under head coach Jason Demetriou. The club aims for a comeback to the Super League by 2027, following a reset under new ownership led by Darren Lockyer and businessman Grant Wechsel.
In his first interview since the announcement, Campbell-Gillard shared his rationale for contacting Yeo first.
"I spoke to 'Yeoy' last week just for a bit of guidance and he basically said, 'Say something if you feel like the team needs it. Don't talk just for the sake of talking'," Campbell-Gillard told the Daily Telegraph.
"I won't be trying to copy anyone else.
"I've picked up little things from captains, coaches, and leaders throughout my career and I'll add my own flavour to that."
