Parramatta Eels NSW Cup captain Jordan Rankin has announced his retirement from professional rugby league.

The 30-year-old will hang up his boots and transition into a coaching role as the Head Coach for the Parramatta Eels Jersey Flegg program in 2024.

Rankin's career has been illustrious, with many notable achievements under his belt.

He made history as the youngest ever player to debut in the NRL at the tender age of 16.

This remarkable feat occurred when he played for the Gold Coast Titans in 2008.

Over the course of his 16-year career, Rankin has represented various teams in both the NRL and English Super League.

Apart from the Gold Coast Titans, he also played for the Wests Tigers in the NRL.

In the English Super League, Rankin had stints with Hull F.C., Huddersfield Giants, and Castleford Tigers.

In 2020, he joined the Parramatta Eels.

Not only has Rankin showcased his skills on the field, but he has also been involved in coaching.

This year, he held the position of captain for the Eels' NSW Cup team.

Additionally, Rankin served as an Assistant Coach for the Eels' premiership-winning SG Ball team.

Rankin's retirement marks the end of an era, but it also signifies a new chapter in his rugby league journey.

As he transitions into a coaching role, the Parramatta Eels Jersey Flegg program will benefit from his wealth of experience and knowledge.

The announcement of Rankin's retirement and subsequent coaching position has been reported by the official Parramatta Eels website, parraeels.com.au.

As fans bid farewell to a talented player, they eagerly anticipate his future contributions as a coach for the Eels.
