Raiders' ace Weekes signs for a future peak

The Canberra Raiders are reportedly set to extend the contract of their promising young fullback, Kaeo Weekes, until at least the end of the 2029 NRL season.

Currently under contract until the end of 2027, this extension would add two years to his deal, likely accompanied by a significant salary increase.

This move is seen as a strong show of faith in Weekes, with reports from both News Corp and The Sydney Morning Herald confirming the news.

Having transitioned from the Manly Sea Eagles, where he faced tough competition for playing time, Weekes has successfully made his mark in Canberra.

After a gradual rise to the first-grade side, he has become the starting fullback, showcasing his talent and potential.

The early re-signing aims to prevent rival clubs, including a new Papua New Guinea-based team that will begin recruiting players from November 1, 2026, from acquiring Weekes.

This development underscores the Raiders' commitment to securing their young talents, ensuring that Weekes remains a crucial part of their future plans as they aim for sustained success in the NRL.
