EXCLUSIVE: The Rabbitohs have secured the signing of Tongan international Soni Luke amid significant overseas interest. Luke, a nine-time representative for Tonga, was one of 13 players released by the Penrith Panthers at the close of the 2025 season, and he is set to advance his playing career with a new team.
Rather than joining the NRL squad directly, Luke's deal will be structured as a NSWRL contract, similar to the agreements held by Dan Keir and William Afualo at the club.
This year, Luke faced challenges due to injuries, limiting him to just four appearances in the NSW Cup. Nevertheless, he had an impressive showing at the 2025 Pacific Championships for Tonga, highlighting his capability to compete effectively at a high level.
The 29-year-old hooker brings with him 26 first-grade games of experience, having made his NRL debut in 2022 and is now ready to contribute to the Rabbitohs.
