Wayne Bennett has expressed concern over South Sydney's erratic performance, stating that their inconsistency has nearly reached "embarrassing" levels.
While the focus following Friday night's defeat to the Dolphins was on the star centre Latrell Mitchell, Bennett took a moment to reassure Blues coach Laurie Daley during his post-match comments.
"He's okay, he's not too bad. I don't think it's anything serious there," Bennett remarked, allaying concerns that Mitchell had aggravated the back injury that kept him out the previous week.
"He just kind of cramped up a bit. Nothing major... with a 12-day turnaround I think he'll be alright," he added.
Although it appears Mitchell's situation is improving, Bennett acknowledged that the team's fluctuating form presents significant challenges.
South Sydney recently experienced a powerful victory against Cronulla, but this was juxtaposed with a high-scoring defeat to Newcastle following their impressive win over Melbourne last month.
