The Dragons suffered a defeat against the Rabbitohs, ending the game 40-0 at Accor Stadium amid challenging muddy conditions on Thursday night.

In celebration of Telstra Footy Country Round, the Dragons donned socks from South Coast Group 7 powerhouse Shellharbour Sharks.

The persistent wild winter weather in Sydney made for tough playing conditions in Homebush; however, both teams started the game with enthusiasm, eager to exchange possession early on.

Ben Murdoch-Masila made his return for the Red V at the 49-minute mark, marking his first NRL appearance in 389 days.

During the match, Flanagan was held back while trying to play the ball by a South Sydney defender. This incident resulted in a penalty, though no sin bin was issued.

Following this, Mathew Feagai nearly scored the first points for the Red V from a Lyhkan King-Togia grubber, but video officials ruled that he had gone touch in-goal.

The Rabbitohs capitalized on a Dragons drop following their next kick, and the visitors subsequently lost their Captain's Challenge in an effort to overturn the decision. This allowed the Rabbitohs to regain momentum swiftly.

Duncan scored for the Rabbitohs after a left-side shift just a few plays later, extending their lead to 22-0.
