Young Rabbitohs Half to Sit Out the Rest of the Season

Ashton Ward, the Rabbitohs halfback, has officially been sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a hamstring injury sustained during the match against the Parramatta Eels.

The club has released an update confirming that Ward's season is over after he suffered a high-grade hamstring tear last weekend.

The injury took place in the first half while he was attempting a conversion following his team's try.

After the unsuccessful conversion, he was observed limping and subsequently had to leave the field.

The medical team promptly applied ice to his hamstring, determining that he wouldn't continue for the remainder of the game, while the Rabbitohs managed to secure a narrow four-point victory.

Jayden Sullivan took over on the field in his absence.

Jamie Humphreys, who also played against the Eels, will be evaluated weekly as he copes with a persistent ankle issue.

With both Ward and Sullivan unavailable, the Rabbitohs have selected Sullivan to step in at halfback for their upcoming crucial match against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, essential for their playoff aspirations.

Since making his debut in 2025, Ashton Ward has significantly impressed, accumulating 19 appearances in his burgeoning career.
