Dragons fall in Charity Shield

The Dragons faced off against the Rabbitohs in a thrilling Charity Shield match, ultimately losing 28-24 at Wollongong's WIN Stadium on Saturday night.

A lively crowd filled the stadium for its first Charity Shield encounter since 2014.

In a dramatic start, Hame Sele left the field for a HIA after just one minute, paving the way for Hamish Stewart to enter the game.

Shortly after, the Rabbitohs lost former-Dragon Jonah Glover to a strong tackle as both teams commenced the match fiercely.

Setu Tu made an impressive early impact, pushing past defenders and setting up a strong start for the Dragons, while Kyle Flanagan narrowly missed scoring after a clever play.

The Dragons soon capitalized on their momentum with a well-executed play that saw Tu assist Clint Gutherson for a try in the backfield.

Flanagan successfully converted the try, putting the Dragons ahead 6-0 within the first 10 minutes.

Soon after, South Sydney responded when Talanoa Penitani powered through to score, leveling the game at 6-6.
