The Queensland Maroons have announced their squad for Game 3 of the women's State of Origin series as they aim to avoid a whitewash against the New South Wales Blues.

After losing the first two matches held in Brisbane and Sydney, Queensland is set to play in Newcastle, facing the risk of the Blues becoming the first team in women's Origin history to claim a 3-0 series victory.

The Maroons will be without star fullback Tamika Upton, who sustained a hip injury during Game 2.

Hayley Maddick will step in at fullback, making her Origin debut in Upton's absence.

Additionally, Georgie Hannaway has been added to the bench, taking the place of Keilee Joseph, who is also out.

In the team restructuring, Lauren Brown will move to halfback, while Ali Brigginshaw will switch to the lock position.

Destiny Brill returns to the starting lineup as dummy half, completing a series of tactical changes aimed at turning the tide for Queensland.
