In the aftermath of the Maroons' defeat in the 2025 State of Origin series, Queensland head coach Billy Slater emphasized the team's need for improved discipline to recover from their performance.

According to zerotackle.com, the Maroons struggled significantly with errors and missed tackles, culminating in 54 missed tackles throughout the game.

Slater expressed his disappointment in the post-match press conference, admitting that the Blues outplayed his team: "They were much better than us." He further elaborated on his feelings of dissatisfaction, stating, "I feel pretty flat to be honest about the performance." Acknowledging the strengths of the New South Wales team, he noted, "Obviously New South Wales were much better than us," but stressed that the sense of flatness stemmed from the team's self-inflicted errors.

This focus on discipline highlights a critical area of improvement for the Maroons as they look towards the future.
