In the 2025 NRL Wheelchair State Challenge, Queensland secured a 48-36 victory over NSW at Liverpool's Whitlam Leisure Centre, retaining the shield.

After facing an early 12-0 deficit, NSW rallied to equal the score at 12-all after 30 minutes.

However, they went into halftime trailing 30-12.

Despite a determined comeback that saw them close the gap to just six points with under five minutes remaining, Queensland's captain Bayley McKenna scored a late try, effectively sealing the win for his team.

The match began with Queensland threatening to score in the first minute but was met with strong defence from NSW.

After earning a penalty, Queensland capitalized on their close-range opportunity when Brett Bazley, following a short pass, crossed the line to score.

McKenna successfully converted the try, giving Queensland an early 6-0 lead.

They then extended their advantage to 12-0 before NSW found their footing, turning the momentum and equalizing at 12-all.

Despite the effort, they couldn't clinch a win, with Queensland ultimately demonstrating resilience and skill to maintain their lead and secure the victory.
