The Queensland Rugby League (QRL) has announced the launch of a new NRLQ U20 development series in partnership with the NRL and the four Queensland-based NRL clubs: the Broncos, Dolphins, Titans, and Cowboys.
This series will consist of a home-and-away round-robin competition aimed at enhancing elite development pathways for under-20 players in Queensland.
The initiative addresses a significant gap following the conclusion of the QRL's junior representative competitions, including the Mal Meninga Cup Under 19s.
The series intends to create parity between Queensland and New South Wales NRL clubs, as all NSW clubs can participate in the NSWRL Jersey Flegg competition, thereby leveling the playing field.
It is a crucial component of a pathways review aimed at establishing a more effective system for player development in the future.
The NRLQ series will incorporate games into existing NRL match days, making it an integral part of the broader rugby league experience.
The six-round competition is set to commence this Saturday, May 31.
