In a classic case of sibling rivalry, the brother of QLD Maroons and Melbourne Storm sensation Xavier Coates has made his own mark on the Rugby League scene.

Phillip Coates, a younger spitting image of his older brother, has been snapped up by a Queensland club, much to the excitement of fans and pundits alike.

Reports from The Courier-Mail suggest that the Brisbane Broncos have secured the services of Phillip after his standout performance for the Junior Kumuls against the Australian Schoolboys in Papua New Guinea.

With big shoes to fill, Phillip will take to the QLD Cup next season with the Burleigh Bears, looking to make a name for himself and follow in the footsteps of his illustrious sibling.

While the Broncos will be hoping to keep hold of this promising talent, there is a lingering fear that history may repeat itself, with Xavier Coates making a controversial move to the Melbourne Storm after a short stint at Red Hill.

Nonetheless, Phillip Coates is set to bring his own flair and skill to the field, as he navigates the highs and lows of professional Rugby League with the same determination and talent as his brother before him.
