Queensland under NRL investigation for potential State of Origin rule breach

Queensland's handling of a hefty hit in State of Origin Game 2 has caused a stir in the rugby league realm, prompting an official probe from the NRL over possible manipulation of the regulations.

In a report by news.com.au, it's been revealed that the NRL has reached out to the Queensland Maroons, requesting a "please explain" regarding their utilization of a Head Injury Assessment (HIA) to secure a free interchange during State of Origin Game 2.

The showdown saw NSW dominate Queensland in a groundbreaking first half, ultimately clinching a 38-18 victory to even the series at 1-1, setting the stage for a thrilling decider at Suncorp Stadium on July 17.

During the match, Blues enforcer Liam Martin delivered a crushing blow to Maroons player Reuben Cotter in a late 35th-minute tackle, hoisting and flipping the Maroons forward in a rather awkward manner.

Commentator Warren Smith remarked, "He ended up in a bad position, Liam Martin involved.

It was quite the spectacle, but it definitely won't look good for Liam Martin upon review."
