Melbourne maestro Craig Bellamy has delivered a cheeky barb towards his star playmaker Cameron Munster, hinting that the Queenslander may have to work his way back into the squad through the ranks of reserve grade.
After the Storm triumphed in their sixth consecutive NRL match over the weekend, Munster has been sidelined since injuring his adductor tendon during Magic Round back in May.
Returning to training this week, Munster faces stiff competition from Jahrome Hughes, who has been dazzling at halfback in his absence.
In a post-match interview with Fox League following the Storm's dominant 24-8 victory against the Roosters, Bellamy playfully suggested that Munster might have to earn his stripes with a stint at the Brisbane Tigers feeder club.
"I reckon we've already booked him a one-way ticket to Queensland," Bellamy quipped with a grin.
With the Storm riding high on their winning streak, Munster will have to prove himself worthy of reclaiming his spot in the starting lineup amidst fierce competition and top-notch performances.
Stay tuned to see if the crafty playmaker can make a triumphant return to the field and impress the coaching staff with his skills.
