Cronulla Sharks assistant coach Steve Price has been left disappointed after reportedly being blocked from joining the New South Wales Blues for the 2024 State of Origin series.
The Blues are undergoing a major overhaul of their coaching set-up, with Michael Maguire taking over as head coach following Brad Fittler's departure.
Fittler's exit also saw other key staff, including advisor Greg Alexander and assistant coaches, step down.
Maguire, however, had his sights set on bringing in Price, a former head coach of the St George Illawarra Dragons and long-time assistant at the Sharks.
Unfortunately, the move was denied by the Sharks' head coach, who did not grant Price leave during the Origin period due to Josh Hannay's already existing role in the Queensland coaching staff.
