Queensland coach Billy Slater addressed the contentious decision to send off Kalyn Ponga after a significant incident during the Origin opener, stating he had "no problems" with it.
Ponga made contact with Tolu Koula's head while attempting a cross-field tackle, resulting in a head clash that led to Koula being removed from the game and Ponga's expulsion.
This moment was pivotal, as it allowed the Blues to pull off the biggest comeback in Origin's history.
In the post-match press conference, Slater was questioned about the call but chose not to fault referee Ashley Klein.
"It is what it is... we can argue all we want, but it is what it is, let's call them. I haven't got any problems with it," Slater remarked.
Following the match, Ponga visited the coaching box to express his apologies for being sent off. According to Slater, he felt "heartbroken" for his team yet acknowledged the impressive performance by NSW.
